State legislators are invited to a cross-state strategy conversation about internal reforms to prevent and address sexual harassment within the legislature. Participants will hear from legislators in several states that implemented reforms in the years immediately following #MeToo and will have the opportunity to ask questions, share their own ideas, and workshop what more is needed to create safe and inclusive legislative workplaces. Experts from the National Women’s Law Center and National Women’s Defense League will also share best practice guidance. For state legislators only.

State policymakers and advocates are invited to a briefing on ‘refusal of health care' laws and their impact on patients, providers, and states. Federal and state refusal laws allow hospitals, health insurance plans, and individual medical providers to deny health care, information, or referrals based on political, religious, or other personal beliefs— placing those beliefs over patient health, dignity, and rights. At a moment when the Trump administration is weaponizing federal refusal laws to threaten abortion access and interfere with providers’ ability to do their jobs, this session will break down the current federal landscape and examine how refusal laws are being used against states. NWLC experts and New Hampshire Reproductive Equity Now advocate Christina Warriner Hamilton will highlight state-level strategies to protect patients’ access to health care.
