Exposing the Pronatalist Agenda: What State Advocates and Policymakers Should Know
State legislators, their staff, and state advocates are invited to a briefing on the growing influence of the Heritage Foundation-backed “pronatalist” movement and how this movement—and their recently released agenda—is shaping narratives in state and federal policymaking. This session will discuss what pronatalism is, why it is gaining traction, and how it’s showing up across policy areas, including reproductive health care, child care, and education.
While often framed as pro-family, these policies are part of a broader agenda to restrict women’s autonomy and equality, advance white supremacist ideology, and push women into narrowly defined roles and out of public spaces.
Speakers will unpack how these harmful narratives are being advanced through state and federal policy efforts and offer tools and resources to help state policymakers and advocates identify, respond to, and push back against pronatalist framing and policy proposals. The session will include time for discussion and shared learning among participants.
