OBBBA’s Threat to Medicaid: State Impacts and Responses
This session will break down the major health provisions of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA)," including when key sections will take effect and potential consequences, and will offer concrete insights into how state policymakers and advocates can assess impacts, gather information, and shape public-facing responses.
OBBBA provisions such as the Medicaid work requirements and cost-sharing mandates are projected to cause tens of millions of people--disproportionately women and low-income individuals--to lose coverage or face higher out-of-pocket costs, and also cause states to lose access to millions in federal funds. These changes will reduce access to essential services, exacerbate existing inequities and jeopardize the health and financial security of women and LGBTQ+ people.
Join us to hear from NWLC policy experts and state leaders about how states are already taking steps to respond to these provisions. The briefing will also include time for discussion and shared learning among attendees.
